MIAMI HOTEL PHOTOGRAPHER CAPTURES THE ECLAT HOTEL BEIJING

Antonio Cuellar Is a  Miami hotel photographer and I had the pleasure of photographing this very interesting boutique hotel in Beijing. Hotel Éclat Beijing opened its doors welcoming its first guests to a stunning new standard of design and style in the heart of the Chinese capital.

 

Nestled in an airy glass-and-steel tower capsule within Parkview Green, this 100-room and suites design masterpiece amaze at first glance with a highly stylised lobby featuring original works by Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, Zeng Fanzhi and Chen Wenling. The hotel is home to the largest private Dali’s art collection in China, and masterworks will greet and intrigue guests on every floor of the property.

 

A geothermal system allows for energy-efficient heating and cooling when necessary. This hybrid passive and active mechanical systems save 60% on cooling costs in the summer and 80% on heating in the winter. The development collects rainwater from the roof and paved areas, which is then filtered and recycled for use as irrigation water. Wastewater from sinks, showers and washing faucets is also treated for flushing and landscape irrigation. Materials were chosen based on their sustainability and the structure includes recycled materials from building demolitions for back-filling of the site and steel. Quickly growing softwoods were used instead of hardwoods, and native plants and trees were selected for their low water and low maintenance needs.

Guests who need to work during their stay will appreciate the Philippe Stark-designed desk chairs before they recover from their busy day in Panasonic massage chairs while enjoying 3D movies on 46” TV screens. Other room features include large Bang & Olufsen™ speakers with iPod docks, freshly brewed illy™ coffee, and toiletries by Miller Harris of London. Guest services are deliberately discreet and unobtrusive, with dedicated butlers on call 24 hours a day to cater to every request.

An exclusive guests-only retreat, the Éclat Lounge, offers a private space on the glass bridge of the magnificent building. The lounge serves a luxurious complimentary buffet breakfast, delightful canapés in the afternoon, light refreshments throughout the day and an à la carte selection of late-night treats.

Hotel Éclat Beijing stands as a distinctive statement of luxury and design at the exclusive Parkview Green shopping and commercial complex and is surrounded by the city’s central business, diplomatic and political districts.

On a personal note, I have to say that it is a bit melancholic that we are falling behind in this type of construction to Asia. I feel it on a personal level because I am a Miami hotel photographer and I am yet to see this kind of effort put into building something as spectacular as this. Don’t get me wrong I am extremely happy that the people from China are building these hotels, good for them, I just wish I didn’t have to travel so far to capture such beauty.
