I ran into a couple of videos by a Russian photographer Elena Shumilova. I was immediately captivated by her artistry and felt I should share her work with my followers. Elena’s work and passion revolves around her two boys, dogs, cats, ducks and every possible animal they ran into. I thought her child photography approach was very inspiring
I ran into a couple of videos by a Russian photographer Elena Shumilova. I was immediately captivated by her artistry and felt I should share her work with my followers. Elena’s work and passion revolve around her two boys, dogs, cats, ducks and every possible animal they ran into.
I was very surprised to learn she has only been photographing for only 3 years as her work is one of a seasoned artist. It took at least twice as long for me to develop my photography skills and in such a short period she has managed to evolve some amazing child photography skills. Not to mention the amazing production of these two videos she is now sharing with us.I thought it was useful to pass along these child photography tips she has decided to share with the world.
Elena photographs her kids consistently every day so that they become comfortable around the camera and avoid running into artificial posing. As well as regular portrait photography, clothing’s should not be distracting as they might take attention away from the child. “This is harder than thou might think as kids clothes these days have bright colors” Elena explains.
Elena also explains that you must know you kids behavioral patterns in order to photograph them when they are at peace with low energy levels. “Do not photograph them when it is a good time for, photograph them when it is a good time for them”. Do not get frustrated as kids will sense your frustration and most likely become frustrated as well. You have to learn to relax and make child photography fun for them.
Become used to taking your camera everywhere so that when that special moment comes for child photography, you will be ready.
